This collection holds both handloom and power-loom cotton sarees, and each product page tells you which you are looking at. The weaves run from crisp Bengal tant and soft Dhaniakhali cotton, through cotton jamdani with its hand-picked motifs, to Assamese cottons in the deep, saturated tones that region is known for, cotton Baluchari, and blended cotton Gadwal with their contrast borders. Handloom pieces carry the small irregularities that come with a hand-thrown shuttle; power-loom cottons are more uniform and easier on the budget.

Cotton is the weave you actually live in. A cotton saree breathes in a way silk does not, softens with every wash, and drapes light enough for a full working day — which makes these equally at home at the office, at a morning puja, at a summer wedding, or on an ordinary Tuesday. The heavier Baluchari and Gadwal pieces carry enough presence for Durga Puja and festive evenings, while the striped and checked Dhaniakhali sarees are what most of our customers reach for day to day.

Cotton Saree FAQs

Are these cotton sarees handloom or power loom? Both. The collection carries handloom cotton sarees — Bengal tant, Dhaniakhali, cotton jamdani, Assamese weaves — alongside power-loom and blended cottons, and every product page states which it is. Handloom pieces show small irregularities in the weave, which is how you tell a hand-thrown shuttle from a machine; power-loom cottons are more even and generally cost less.

Are cotton sarees good for daily and office wear? Yes — that is what they are made for. A cotton saree is light, breathable and easy to pleat, and it holds a crisp drape through a long day. Dhaniakhali and tant weaves in stripes, checks and plain bodies are the usual everyday choice; keep the Baluchari and Gadwal pieces for festive occasions.

Do your cotton sarees come with a blouse piece? Many do — each saree's product page lists whether a blouse piece is included and how long it is. Where one is included it is usually cut and separated from the saree body. You can also pair any saree here with a readymade blouse in sizes 32 to 44.

How do I wash a cotton saree? Wash it separately the first time, in cold water, by hand or on a gentle machine cycle — handloom cotton lets go of a little dye early on. Dry in shade rather than direct sun, and starch lightly if you want the crisp finish traditional to tant and Dhaniakhali. Check each product's care note, since blended and zari-bordered pieces may be dry-clean only.

What is the difference between tant, Dhaniakhali and jamdani? All three are Bengal cottons. Tant is the broad family — crisp, light, usually a plain body with a contrasting border. Dhaniakhali, from the Hooghly district, is woven tighter and a little heavier, so it holds its drape better; it is the everyday favourite. Jamdani is the most labour-intensive of the three: the motifs are hand-picked into the weave on the loom itself, not printed or embroidered afterwards.
